Mock Trial #1: Clark Thomson
The Mock Trial Summer Scholars class has been reviewing the evidence for the case of The State of Oregon v. Willy Freeman, a complex murder indictment. The students have bocce-ed their way onto the defense of the prosecution (a Summer Scholars tradition) and have begun reviewing the statements of the witnesses. This morning we reviewed objections and began writing direct examinations. This afternoon we will work prepare lines of question for cross examination. We are still in the early preparation phase, but we should be ready for our trial on Friday.
The trial will take place at 10:30 until 11:30 on Friday in the auditorium. Parents and friends are welcome. After the trial, our jurors will deliberate over lunch and give their decision in the afternoon. Interested spectators will have to wait until our lawyers and witness arrive home. Also, the lawyers will be going out to lunch and ice cream on Main Street on Friday in celebration. Mr. Thomson will be emailing permission slips on Wednesday.
