Design-Build Architecture Studio
Students in Grades 7-10
Lead Teacher – Michael Webster
Be part of real-world architectural processes, from sketch to completion. Over the first week, students will encounter precedents for contemporary architecture, learn various drawing and model-making techniques, and finally team-design a small scale structure to be built on the MFS grounds. Students will become familiar with the 3-D computer modeling program Sketch-Up. Once design is completed, participants will be trained in the necessary safety and construction techniques to begin fabrication of the structure within the Moorestown Friends School woodshop. The transition from design to build allows students the rare opportunity to compare the abstract and the physical limitations of architecture.
